FROME

Renowned for its thriving music and arts scene, diverse, vibrant community and monthly Independent Markets, the market town of Frome has been consistently nominated as one of the top 10 places to live in England, so we recommend you take the opportunity to explore this delightful town and enjoy all its treasures. 

Frome is best explored on foot in order to really appreciate and enjoy its unique character and charm.  Only a few minutes drive from The Lighthouse, parking is very easy and gives good access to the town centre. Centrally located Cheap Street complete with a Leat (stream) running along its length, has a wonderful mix of shops, cafes and services and the cobbled hike up Catherine Hill is well worth the trip due to its range of trendy boutiques and craft shops. 


SHOWS, EVENTS & THINGS TO DO WITH KIDS

Frome Independent Market held on the first Sunday of each month and hosted throughout the town, showcasing the best independent art and crafts producers and food traders. 
Frome Murder Mystery Treasure Trail leads the amateur detective on a self directed fun trail around the best of Frome. Treasure maps are available to purchase from Treasure Trail, which also offers mobile phone support to nudge any stuck detectives in the right direction.
10 day Arts Festival in July, presented in various locations around the town. Tickets available from Frome Festival Box Office, Cheese and Grain, Market Yard, Frome, BA11 1BE or tel: 01373 455420 

The Frome Cheese Show in the autumn. This impressive one day show includes horse jumping, livestock competitions, craft and country clothing stalls, local food tents and of course the star of the show, the Global Cheese Awards. Tickets available online.


ARTS, CRAFTS, MUSIC & THEATRE

Black Swan Guild Popular arts centre near the river open 7 days a week, housing galleries, shops, a cafe and the Round Tower Gallery hosting artist-led workshops and community events.
The Silk Mill comprises of artist studios and event space that hosts a variety of exhibitions, musical and social events.

The Cheese and Grain, a multi-purpose venue hosting a variety of popular bands, fairs and markets.

The Merlin Theatre bringing the best in community theatre and performing arts. 

Frome Memorial Theatre offers a range of shows from musicals and ballet, to plays and magic shows.
