Fun things to do in October begin with Ruby Wax at the Cheese and Grain in Frome, waxing lyrical about "How to be Human" on Thursday 3rd October. Ruby's one woman show is followed by a host of music acts including Trevor Nelson's "Soul Nation", Saturday 12th October, Oye Santana Friday 18th and Dreadzone playing live on Sunday 27th.

Wells Food Festival on Sunday 13th October looks set to tantalise the taste buds on many levels, offering a wealth of Artisan Food stalls accompanied by photography, music, arts & crafts plus discovery trails for kids. Lovers of all things antique can look forward to the Bruton Decorative Antiques Fair held at Haynes International Motor Museum, Friday 18th to Sunday 20th.

Half term promises to be jammed pack with Halloween excitement with both Cheddar Gorge and Longleat offering a wealth of activities for the curious and brave from Wednesday October 23rd to the Sunday 3rd of November. Team up with the Natural Theatre Company at Cheddar Gorge to solve the ghostly mystery of the "Halloween Tale” running from 11am to 3pm daily. Ticket price includes Dreamhunters at Cox’s Cave, Beyond the View, Jacob's Ladder, the Cliff-top Walk and the Museum of Prehistory.

Longleat Safari Park is brightening up October with a colourful array of autumnal activities, starting with pumpkin carving, mini-tractor driving and sand craft for little ones. The more adventurous may wish to embark on a Ghostly Tour of Longleat House and the half term holiday opens and closes with Fantastic Fireworks displays suitable for all the family. Discounted tickets for both Cheddar Gorge and Longleat Safari Park available from The Lighthouse when you reserve your holiday accommodation.
